Middle School Students Respond to the Gospel
A few months ago, Dr. Bach, a teacher at Stauffer Middle School in the Los Angeles area, began fervently praying after growing more concerned about the curriculum he was tasked to teach.
When Rich gave the call to respond, the majority of students in the room repeated the sinner’s prayer out loud with Rich. Taken aback by how many responded, Rich gave a short exhortation after the prayer that if they genuinely believed that God called them to turn from their sin and put their faith in Christ, it meant their identity was now in Christ, and that they lived this not in secret, but before others.
He gave a final call to respond again; this time, calling those who had genuinely placed their faith in Christ to stand up. One by one, chairs pushed back as a large number of students stood. It was a moment that profoundly moved our staff, coaches, and teacher advisors. At the back of the classroom, Dr. Bach was in tears.
“I was not expecting that many students to stand up to make a public declaration of faith!” Rich later shared with us. “A great number of students came up to me expressing great appreciation. It was a powerful time.”
Phoebe, another Decision Point staff who was at the outreach, overheard a student thanking another student for inviting him: “This was a really good idea. . . I’m so glad I came.”
“Offense, not defense,” he felt the Lord say to him. So he began finding creative ways to allow God’s kingdom to break through on campus.
Last week, the Christian club that Dr. Bach advises for hosted an outreach week on their campus. Alongside the preparations Student Leaders were working on, Dr. Bach enlisted brothers and sisters across the nation to commit to praying for Stauffer MS and the coming outreach.

When outreach week came, God answered those prayers in a big way with 62 students showing up on the first day, 92 on the second day, and then 99 students on the third and final day. Praise God for bringing so many students to hear the gospel!
But that wasn’t all that He would do.
On the final day of the outreach, Decision Point staff Rich clearly laid out the gospel in front of the packed classroom of 99 students. After having heard the gospel over the last couple of days, there seemed to be a buzz in the room.

After the outreach, Dr. Bach shared with us: “I have been running into Abba’s arms with happy tears streaming down my face, rejoicing in His inexhaustible goodness and kindness! . . . What just took place in my room over the last three days is nothing short of miraculous! This is why I am here as a teacher! This is my mission field, and what you guys did and said so beautifully is everything that I only wish I could do and say!”
