Karen Corbett's NSP Missions Fundraiser

Hello friends!

This spring break, I will have the incredible opportunity to share the Good News to local California high school students through an organization known as the National School Project.

For most of the school year, the National School Project (NSP) works to pair Christian college students with high school students who mentor Christian groups at their schools to help support them in spreading the Good News to their fellow students.

Last semester, and continuing on in this semester, my NSP partner (Spenser) and I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the leader of the Bell Bible Club at Bell High School and her younger brother. As the leader and her brother planned an event in which students could hear the gospel during their lunches for three straight days (known as "Outreach Events" at many schools partnering with NSP and "Spark!" at Bell), Spenser and I worked to support their plans and be a resource in whatever ways were needed.

When the event came, he and I helped hand out pizza and snacks for the incoming students and manage any extra details that we could to help the event run smoothly. Additionally, after each school day we had the opportunity to speak with students about what they believe about God and share the gospel with them. The students were often incredibly open and I can't wait to see what God has in store for each and every one of them, which is why I'm tremendously excited that we get the chance to do a similar event this semester at Bell High School and high schools all over this area!

This is the Meant for More movement: that over the course of one thousand days, ONE MILLION high school students would hear the gospel. The events that we will be supporting this spring break are quite similar to Spark!, bringing in speakers during students' lunches to share the gospel with students who might not otherwise get the opportunity to hear the Good News. Through all we do, we plan to meet students where they are to see how God might want to speak into their lives through us. In the past, God has done absolutely incredible work through these weeks, and I'm ecstatic to see what he has in store for this year!

In order for us to do this work, however, we need your help. The conversations we will be having and the opportunities we are looking to steward will require a great deal of spiritual guidance and discernment. As such, I would like to ask for you all to keep us in your prayers. Here are a few things you can be praying over:

1.) That the students' hearts and minds will be open and softened while the Good News is spoken over them, so that they might hear and know that the Lord is God as well as anything else that they Lord may be wanting to impart to them (Matthew 13:3-8)

2.) That we would be attentive to the Lord's guidance as we speak with these students and that the Lord's truth would be above all in our thoughts and desires

3.) For strength and guidance for:
-The students hearing the message as they perhaps consider making the most important decision of following Christ
-The club leaders as they profess their faith and guide their peers in a bold and courageous way (Deuteronomy 31:6)
-The NSP mentors as they (we) look to "sow to please the Spirit" and continuously seek the Lord's guidance (Galatians 6:8b-9)

If you are able, I would also like to ask for financial support. Each NSP mentor has been asked to raise $200 to cover the costs of food, transportation, and team outings. While I recognize finances can be tough, especially for my college friends who are reading this, I ask that you pray over if you can spare even $5 or $0.50 towards this cause. Every single donation helps!

Finally, if there is any way that I can be praying for you or if you have any questions about NSP, this trip, or anything else, please feel free to contact me at (978) 846-2822 or email me at Karen.E.Corbett@Biola.edu

God bless,

Karen Corbett

About Biola:

NSP started at Biola in 2002 and the Biola chapter has worked with over 100 schools since then. There is a rich history of sending trips of Biola students around the country to impact students for Jesus Christ. Last year, the Biola chapter transitioned to doing a major trip over Spring Break with their own schools to great effect. See some of the photos on this page of the impact that last year's trip had while working at 8 schools. This year, the Biola chapter will be working with 14 schools over their spring break. Oftentimes, it's difficult for NSP coaches and club leaders to spend more than an hour or two together a week, so this trip will be an opportunity to really invest into student's evangelism ability, biblical knowledge, and ministry skills—all while sharing the gospel with, hopefully, at least 2,000 students in this area in 5 days.

Want to Support The Outreaches Directly?

We want to be able to give the clubs we coach the best opportunity to put on amazing outreaches. We would love to be able to provide every need our clubs have for their entire Outreach Weeks, but the only problem is that outreach really does cost money! If you are interested in supporting Christian clubs in this area directly or supporting a specific outreach need, please make a contribution!

If you have any questions about the breakdown of the outreach budget, please contact shannon.l@nationalschoolproject.com.
