Campus mentors start out as a fresh bunch of volunteer college students. Then, as they join our teams, they are trained to become a driven and highly capable force. This training launches at Fall Training Weekends - a weekend of vision, the Word, worship, and condensed training to make sure they are prepared to jump into their new role. A Spring Retreat launches them into the 2nd half of the year helping focus their hearts and minds toward this mission at hand. Surrounding these weekends, Campus mentors receive ongoing training throughout the year from their Student Leaders and Area Directors. All in all, it’s our prayer that the mentoring that we provide will provide more than just technical skills, but help them experience powerful life-change.
One such campus mentor was Adam, who by the time he was a Junior at Biola, had served with CSP for two years. He stayed committed to mentoring because he saw high school students who started out unsure of their faith leading rallies, speaking out in front of their schools with boldness, and unafraid to share Christ with their friends. Seeing this transformation, and remembering the power of mentoring in his own life, kept him coming back.
“God really encouraged me and showed me [at a Fall Training Weekend] that I am a VALUABLE contribution to His mission. I am valuable because He has called me and appointed me to go and bear fruit, NOT because I have ‘mad skills’ at mentoring. I have grown to be more confident in myself, and even more excited about what God will do this year.”

GIVE THE GOSPEL THROUGH CAMPUS MENTORS BY:
God uses Student Leaders to change student’s lives. This year, NSP trained and sent 34 college student leaders to lead and grow gospel movements at more than 100 public school campuses across the nation. Each college student hired as a Student Leader oversees and mentors 3-4 schools, recruits and trains volunteer Campus Mentors and builds community partnerships. Just one Student Leader has a mission field of up to 10,000 students! Student Leaders work part time 16-20 hours/week while still in college to help advance this mission.
The kind of heart that our Student Leaders have can clearly be seen when you look at people like Andrew Randolph who said of wanting to join this movement, “I’ve always wanted to practice learning good witnessing skills, and see how that can lead others to Christ. I joined NSP to personally be able to watch the growth of young Christians, to see their own developed passion for Christ, and to strengthen my own relationship with the Lord.” We are so grateful for our Student Leaders who are committed and determined to reach high school students for Christ!

A jam packed two week training in Chicago, 35 Student Leaders from across California and Illinois will join with 25 staff for an intensive time in the Word, job training, weekend mission trips, afternoon witnessing, team bonding, and so much more! Student Leader Training (SLT) is our biggest training event of the year, it is a hugely impactful time for our Student Leaders (see section above for more on our Student Leaders), and it is crucial for the development and training of them for their jobs as leaders in NSP. Our leaders will leave these weeks prepared and ready to be launched into their roles overseeing 3-4 high schools in a given area surrounding their college.
Kyle Bafia, a ISP Student Leader shared, “Student Leader Training was a gathering of incredible people, focused on an incredible ministry, offered in worship to an immeasurable God. I grew as a Student Leader during this time because it was in this climate that I decided to lead a mission trip to my hometown of Columbus Ohio. I was able to experience first hand the need in MY city for this mission, and because of that grow not only as a Student Leader but also in my walk with Christ.”
GIVE THE GOSPEL THROUGH STUDENT LEADERS BY:
Last summer during Student Leader Training 2016, we sent our 34 Student Leaders to lead short mission trips, to help them grow as leaders, and to build momentum with our expansion efforts throughout the Midwest. These mission trips, nicknamed Mission Possible, focused on connecting with local communities and helping train students to reach their campuses for Christ. These trips were so widely successful, and saw so much fruit in such a short time that NSP is now sending a team of Student Leaders next summer 2017 across the Midwest for 6 weeks, to continue the development of these relationships in these key cities. This project will greatly accelerate our expansion efforts as NSP and deeply impact the lives of our Student Leaders. To see the impact of last years project, watch the video.
