I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Hopson as the second President of NSP, effective January 2017. NSP is currently growing rapidly and seeing huge increases in many key areas. And we are anticipating continued growth as we look to expand to new cities and states across the country in the coming years. Since the founding of NSP in 2002, (named the California School Project at the time), I have held the positions of both Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President. As CEO, I provide the direction for the company and serve as primary external representative and ambassador. As President, I direct the day-to-day operations of both field and administrative functions of the ministry. But now, to meet the demands of our growth, we are dividing these roles, with Mark accepting the presidential position.
Mark is presently the Illinois School Project Director and a member of the NSP Executive Team. He has been with NSP for 13 years, serving initially as a college student then later joining full-time staff. He is a graduate of Biola University and Talbot School of Theology.
In 2013, after serving for years as the CSP Los Angeles Director, Mark and his family moved in faith to serve the schools of Chicago, Illinois. Almost immediately, through the leadership and hard work of Mark and his team, new chapters were started out of 3 local universities. Two years later, this Chicago Opportunity was formally renamed to the Illinois School Project with a mission of reaching all of Illinois’ schools and pioneering ministry into the surrounding midwestern states. To date, through the direct influence of the ISP ministry, Mark has helped impact 50 schools that otherwise would never have been reached.
We are very excited to have Mark bring his great enthusiasm for reaching the high school and middle school students of America for Christ, his creative leadership, and his distinctive gifting for this broader application of his skill set to the ministry! We are more than confident in Mark’s leadership as he steps into this role. He is an influential leader, God-fearing, and a man of vision. His leadership will undoubtedly deepen and grow NSP in the coming years.
“I am humbled and excited for this new opportunity to trust the Lord in a deeper way,” Mark says, “Shelley, my wife, and I are eager to invest the next chapter of our lives in this mission. The high schools and middle schools of America are a vast mission field. There has never been a more important time to train young people to share the Gospel than now. Please continue to pray earnestly with us to the Lord of the harvest to sovereignly lead in this mission and to awaken hearts across the country to Him.”
Please pray for Heather Barnes, an instrumental leader in the ISP team for the past 6 years, who has been selected as the next Illinois School Project Director. And please pray with us for Mark and his family as he transitions into this new position as NSP President.
