Every August, the National School Project hosts an intensive training for our college student leaders. These students work 16 hours a week making gospel outreach happen at public high schools. Because they're such an essential part of this ministry, we spend two weeks at the start of each school year training them for the year to come.

This year, the National School Project is hosting the training in Chicago.

We're looking for host homes in Wheaton to give our team a place to sleep (a bed, couch, or floor) during that week. After spending a week downtown Chicago, we'll be in Wheaton from August 13-19. This ministry of hospitality will support this gospel mission in a major way. We've done all we can to make it as easy for you as possible, so check out more details below.

47 Staff and Student Leaders need housing. To house them all, we need 20-24 host homes. Help us get there!

what is the commitment?

You'll sign up to host 2 or more NSP leaders of the same gender, either college students or staff members, from August 13 - 29, 2017.

College Church in Wheaton is graciously providing us with meeting space for that week, so we're looking for homes that are within walking distance, or a short drive, from their campus.

  • Your guests will arrive on the evening of the 13th and leave early on the 19th.
  • They will be gone all day, leaving in the morning around 8am and not returning until 8 or 9 pm.
  • We'll provide all food.
  • We will provide transportation to/from your home. If you would like to help drop them off or pick them up from College Church, that would be a help but not necessary.
  • If you can provide a bed, that's great, but a couch or even a space for an air mattress will work just fine.
  • We can provide sheets or a sleeping bag if needed.
  • You'll get to know your guests and hear about the ministry they're doing, but you won't need to entertain them.
  • They'll have been in training for 1 week by the time they arrive at your home, and they may want to do a load of laundry.

You'll be in touch with an NSP staff member leading up to the summer, answering your questions, letting you know what time each day to expect your guests to return and working with you to resolve any scheduling conflicts or last minute issues.

have been impacted from the training

  • JANDA | student LEADER

"I feel so prepared! I have a much better understanding of my role, how I will be used in this ministry, and ownership of the mission... I was very stressed and overwhelmed coming into these two weeks and really overall felt very unsure of how I would necessarily be used in this mission. After all of the training I feel so refreshed and encouraged to take charge in this year of ministry and to bring others into the work being done and yet has been done."

  • devin | expansion Director

"I have been so encouraged and lifted up over these last couple weeks. I feel that I have a newfound sense of confidence in what I am doing and what the Lord has called me to do. Aside from all of the logistical and detailed training that has helped me, the actual "leadership and character" training has been so valuable to me... All of this combined together has given me a better understanding of what it means to be a "leader," in everything I set my mind to."

  • kelly | student leader

“What impacted me the most during this training was seeing the way a ministry runs and what it looks like to be God-directed in leadership. I learned why I am here, and realized that I truly am equipped and ready for this leadership position. These two weeks have given me so much to look forward to, and I’m eager to pray BIG for the ministry and for God to work in BIG ways in the nation.”
