Story of Life Change

LA Churches Work Together to Equip Youth like Gerardo

Four local churches (from Torrance, Redondo Beach, Gardena, and Downey) have worked together to begin cultivating a heart of evangelism and outreach in their youth groups. In fact, on Friday Oct. 22nd, nearly 100 students came together for a night of worship and prayer, and received the challenge to proclaim the gospel to their peers this school year. During the event, students participated in NSP's Pray 5 Challenge (click here to learn more). Gerardo, a freshman student, wrote the names of 5 family members on his prayer card, committing to pray for them to come to know Christ and for a chance to share the gospel with them. Two days later, on Sunday Oct. 24th, he showed up to church with his mother and brother! Gerardo is a believer and regularly attends youth group; however, it was the first time his mother and brother came to church with him on a Sunday in the past 2-3 years! God is clearly answering and working through the prayers of students like Gerardo!

Los Angeles Ministry Update

100 Student Leaders Reaching Nearly 40 Schools!
  • 84 students are being trained in witnessing right now!
  • 21 students have been trained in witnessing and have already been out witnessing at least 1 or more times!
  • Students from 5 schools led an outreach event within the first few months of the school year!
  • At least 13 schools have started leading NSP's Identity Series covering topics like, “Who am I?” and “Where do I belong?” with their peers and classmates.

"The Los Angeles area is a massive mission field enamored with worldly narratives that impinge upon students and attempt to shape them after their own likeness," says Rich Hung, CA State Director. "The gods of comfort, money, sensuality, power, and status abound in Los Angeles. Just in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties alone, the population of young people is just over 4 million! This is a field ripe for harvest, especially among students who are hungry for more than what this world tries to offer them. Among such a massive mission field something is being done. God is moving in and through students to be His witnesses to a lost and hurting generation. God is reaching in, touching lives, and saving souls even in a culture that is growing increasingly hostile to Christians. May Christ’s church shine brighter, even as our world gets darker."

Prayer Requests

Please join us in praying over these goals for our LA team this year.

Pray God would raise up Christian students from 12 more schools in the Los Angeles Area (this includes LA, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties) to reach their friends and classmates for Christ. Pray we can meet them and help them establish a strong gospel presence on their campus.

Pray students will develop a deeper conviction from the Lord to be His witnesses. Pray students understand their roles as missionaries and not just club leaders. Pray students truly believe God can make an eternal difference through them among their peers, family, and in their sphere of influence.

Pray for increased and deeper partnerships with local church pastors who want to coach their Christian students to reach their campuses with the gospel. Pray God would bring about an incredibly strong gospel witness among the youth from local churches in Greater Los Angeles to further His kingdom.

Pray God sends more workers to pour into the lives of students. Specifically, pray for adult volunteer coaches, pastors who gladly volunteer as coaches, and part-time and full-time campus ministry staff to join the NSP team the next year.
